Why convert Audible books to MP3?
Books you buy on Audible are delivered in Audible's own formats (AAX or AAXC) and are meant to be played inside Audible's apps. That's fine until you want to listen on a device Audible doesn't support, keep an archive of your purchases, or organize everything in a single player.
Converting to MP3 gives you plain files you can copy, back up and play anywhere, with no app lock-in.
- Play on any MP3 player, car stereo or USB stick
- Keep an offline archive of the books you own
- Use any audiobook app instead of a single official one
- Add your books to Plex, Jellyfin or Audiobookshelf
What you get with AudiblePort
AudiblePort is a native desktop app for Windows, macOS and Linux. It signs in to your Audible account, lists your whole library, downloads the books you pick and converts them locally. Nothing is uploaded anywhere: the audio and your credentials stay on your machine.
- MP3 at 64, 128 or 192 kbps (128 kbps by default, a great balance for spoken word)
- Title, author, narrator and cover art written into the file
- One file per book, or one file per chapter
- Batch queue: convert dozens or hundreds of books in parallel with live progress
Which bitrate should you choose?
For audiobooks, 64 kbps is perfectly clear speech and keeps files small, which is ideal for tiny MP3 players or phones with limited storage. 128 kbps is the safe default for most people. Choose 192 kbps if a book has lots of music or sound design, or if you simply want the highest quality and have space to spare.
Frequently asked questions
Is AudiblePort free?
Downloading, organizing and listening to your library is free with no limits. Converting to MP3 or M4B requires a one-time lifetime license — no subscription.
Will the MP3 keep chapters?
MP3 has no universal chapter standard, so AudiblePort lets you split the book into one MP3 per chapter. If you want a single file with built-in chapter markers, choose M4B instead.
Does it work with books from any Audible country?
AudiblePort works with your own Audible account and the books in its library. It handles both AAX and the newer AAXC files Audible delivers today.
Is anything uploaded to your servers?
No. Downloading and conversion run entirely on your computer. Our server only handles your AudiblePort account and license.
