Privacy policy

Your audiobooks stay on your device. This policy explains the limited data our online service needs for accounts, licenses, payments and support.

The short version

We do not upload your audiobook library, audio files, Audible credentials or conversion history to AudiblePort servers. The desktop app processes those items locally. We do process the account and licensing data described below.

01

Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is Albert Alvarez Estelles, tax ID ES44519666S, with business address at calle 207 nº31-8, 46182 Paterna, España.

For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, email [email protected].

02

Data we process on our servers

  • Account data: email address, password hash, email verification, account status, language or region, sign-in dates, number of sign-ins and approximate country of the last sign-in.
  • Sign-up context: how the account was created (email or Google, on the website or from the desktop app) and the approximate country, operating system and language at that moment. If your first visit came from a campaign link or another website, we also keep the campaign tags (such as utm_source), the type of ad click identifier but not its value, the referring domain and the landing page — never full URLs, IP addresses or raw browser identifiers.
  • Authentication and security data: session and token records, security events, request identifiers, IP address processed temporarily for rate limiting, and technical request logs and error reports where necessary.
  • Device and license data: public key, optional device name, platform, operating system version, architecture, app version, last seen date, activations, license validity and revocation status. We do not use hardware fingerprinting.
  • Anonymous install statistics: when diagnostics are enabled in the desktop app, it sends at most once a day a random installation identifier, the operating system and its version, architecture, app version, app language and release channel. We use them to count active installations; they are not linked to your account.
  • Purchase data: Stripe customer, checkout and payment identifiers, amount, currency, status, tax or billing metadata and webhook records. AudiblePort does not receive or store full card numbers.
  • Support data: your email and the information you choose to include when contacting us.
03

Data kept locally on your device

The desktop app stores your Audible authentication data in encrypted local storage, plus library metadata, download and conversion state, file paths, settings and playback progress in its local database. These data are used to provide the app and are not sent to AudiblePort servers.

The app communicates directly with Amazon/Audible when you sign in, read your library or download content. Removing an Audible account from the app removes its current local credentials and associated app data, subject to backups or files you created outside the app.

04

Why we use data

  • To create and secure your account, provide the software license, devices, downloads and support, and perform our contract with you.
  • To process payments, refunds, invoices and taxes, and comply with accounting and legal obligations.
  • To prevent abuse, investigate security incidents and protect the service, based on our legitimate interests and legal duties.
  • To understand, in aggregate, which channels, countries and platforms bring users and how many installations are active, based on our legitimate interests.
  • Where consent is the appropriate basis, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting earlier processing.
05

Service providers and transfers

We use Stripe for checkout, payments and tax-related processing; Amazon SES to deliver transactional email; Google when you choose Google sign-in; Sentry to receive technical error reports from the app and this website, with personal data removed; and GitHub to distribute signed application releases. Amazon/Audible separately processes data when the desktop app connects to your Audible account.

These providers process data under their own terms and may operate outside your country. Where required, transfers are protected by an adequacy decision, standard contractual clauses or another lawful safeguard.

06

Cookies and similar storage

We use essential session storage to keep you signed in, protect forms, remember language, infer a download platform, hold an approximate country code for price display where available and, on your first visit, remember how you arrived (campaign tags, referring domain and landing page) so it can be associated with your account if you sign up. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics on this website.

07

Retention

We keep account and license records while your account or license is active and afterwards only as needed for security, disputes and legal obligations. Payment and invoice records may be retained for statutory accounting periods. Expired or revoked security records and operational logs are kept only for as long as reasonably necessary. Local desktop data remains until you remove it or uninstall the app.

08

Your rights

Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or objection, and may complain to your data protection authority. You may also revoke active devices and sessions from your account. Email [email protected]; we may need to verify your identity.

09

Security, children and changes

We use access controls, encryption in transit, hashed passwords and signed device licenses. No system is completely secure, so please report suspected abuse promptly. AudiblePort is not directed to children under 16. We will publish material policy changes here and update the effective date.
